Director's Welcome
Thank you for your interest in the University of Oregon, Master of Accounting degree program (MAcc). The University of Oregon, a member of the exclusive Association of American Universities (AAU), is located in the city of Eugene in the Willamette Valley in our beautiful state of Oregon. The Lundquist College of Business (LCB) and the Accounting department are both accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
The MAcc program is designed to be a transforming experience. The faculty and staff of the Lundquist College of Business (LCB) endeavor to provide personalized service and care for each MAcc student. We have carefully crafted required and elective accounting courses which provide students with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the most current accounting theory and practice including fair value and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), corporate taxation, pass-through entity taxation, cost management, and auditing. Students also sharpen critical thinking, teamwork and communication skills in these courses and in the non-accounting elective courses.
Non-accounting electives within the LCB MBA program and in other university graduate programs include Corporate Risk Management, International Finance, Negotiation, Sustainable Business Practices, Sports Business, Not-for-Profit Management and Leadership. Most students complete MAcc curriculum within the three-term (9 month) academic year.
Prior to the start of class each fall term, a four-day orientation combines leadership and team building exercises with a rigorous finance boot camp and networking opportunities with major recruiters. Orientation is held on-campus and at Spencers Butte, a beautiful wilderness area that contains the leadership challenge course. A major goal of the orientation is to jump start the development of working relationships and friendships—both of which are necessary for a successful year in the MAcc.
The heart of the MAcc educational experience is the relationship between the faculty and student. The collective attitude of our accounting faculty is open door. We are accessible to our students and committed to their success inside the classroom, in recruiting and in their careers.
Our alumni and other supporters allow us to provide scholarship and other financial support opportunities to our students. These opportunities are included in the scholarships section of this website.
