Helpful Tips

  1. Save Often

  2. Remember to Log Off Your LAB Computer
When using the BTC computer lab it is important to always log off when you are finished using a computer.  If you remain logged on to the computer and someone else uses it they will have access to your drives and printing account.  For faculty and staff it is important to log off regularly so that important security updates can be installed on your computer.

  3. Install the UO VPN Client
Installing and using the UO VPN Client will give you off-campus access to resources such as MS Outlook email, internal campus websites, and your "M" drive.

  4. Save to the "M" Drive
The "M" drive is accessible both on- and off-campus for you to save your work.  All files saved on this drive are backed up regularly. Handouts are available for download, The documents are in Adobe Acrobat format. If you don't have Acrobat, you can download it from Adobe's website. For PC's and Mac's.

  5. Forward Your UO Email
If you have one email address that you check most often you can forward your UO email to that address so that you don't have to check more than one email account.

  6. Connect Wirelessly
With an active UO computing account you have access to use the UO's wireless network from your laptop.  Guest and affiliate temporary accounts are also available.
