Highlights of the Oregon MBA's  dedicated track in Sustainable Business Practices

A research-based, interdisciplinary and integrated curriculum

The Oregon M.B.A. track in Sustainable Business Practices recognizes that our curriculum and faculty are leading thoughtmakers on issues affecting businesses today and tomorrow.  A critical part of the learning happens in the classroom where sustainability is embedded and integrated.  Our faculty are conducting research on many dimensions of sustainability and influencing the discussions both in academics and in corporate boardrooms. Here our faculty’s leading research and their teaching come together.

M.B.A. students following the Sustainable Business Practices track take 10 of the same core classes with other Oregon M.B.A. students during their first year and then add to this the track's own requirements.  In the second year students shape their own curriculum, picking from a wide range of electives available in the Lundquist College of Business as well as from other colleges and departments within the University of Oregon.

Developing skills sought by leading businesses in a personalized way

The Sustainable Business Practices curriculum provides students with tools and knowledge actively used, and sought out, by today’s leading companies. It will prepare and position you for a leadership role in sustainable enterprises and a competitive advantage for a 21st century career.  Lectures, case work, guest speakers and applied projects stretch and deepen your knowledge.  And because we are a small M.B.A. program overall, you get a chance to participate in a way that cannot be matched by other programs. Take this knowledge and work with companies on real projects, compete in nationally recognized case competitions and run established and well known conferences.

The Center’s resources as well as those of others in the College, including the Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship and its Technology Entrepreneurship Program , and programs in the University of Oregon’s science, not for profit management, economics, product design, architecture, law, and journalism programs are all at your fingertips.

An active, hands-on and real-world focus

The Center connects your classroom to live consulting opportunities that address real problems and require solutions that can be implemented.  You will work with businesses throughout your studies, engage in internships, and regularly meet with business leaders who are speakers or executives-in-residence. Dozens of in-class field projects have aided such businesses as Clif Bar, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Flexcar, KEEN Footwear, gDiapers, Dolphin Software, Neil Kelly, SeQuential Biofuels, YOLO Colorhouse, and Eugene Water and Electric Board. Client companies find the recommendations and analyses actionable and our students gain unparalleled experience.
