Undergraduate Concentration in Entrepreneurship
Selecting a concentration in entrepreneurship provides innovative students with a mind set and professional training to identify new business opportunities and the ability to implement them within existing companies or start-up ventures.
Focused academic course work arms E-concentrators in combination with the many experiential programs and activities offered by the Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship (LCE) for intense and frequent interaction with successful business executives / entrepreneurs and start-up companies in the community.
Advising Note:
Pre-business majors in their freshman and sophomore years who are considering a concentration in entrepreneurship are advised to become a member of the Oregon Entrepreneurship Club. As a member of the E-Club, Pre-business majors gain access to junior and senior business majors and E-concentrators as well as the programs and activities of the LCE.
Students are advised to begin the entrepreneurship sequence in the Fall term of their junior year. Please see an adviser for assistance.

Course Descriptions:
MGMT 335 Launching New Ventures (4). Skills, behaviors, and knowledge necessary for creating and growing new ventures. Evaluating opportunities, developing growth strategies, obtaining venture financing, intellectual property, and building a management team. Pre-req: major status and MGMT 321
ACTG 340 Accounting for Entrepreneurs (4). Sources and of cash in the context of start-up and small firms. Emphasis on cash generated by operations and used for operations and growth . Secondary emphasis on external sources of cash. Pre-req: major status.
MKTG 445 New Product Development (4). Techniques for analyzing and developing new markets. Pricing, communicating, and distributing new products or services with limited resources. Developing marketing plans for new ventures. Pre-req: major status and MKTG 311.
MGMT 455 Business Planning for Entrepreneurs (4). Capstone course developing the skills needed to create, launch and grow innovative new ventures – either as start ups or within established businesses. Pre-requisites: MGMT 335, ACTG 340, MKTG 445 and BA 453. Students must plan accordingly with respect to completing all prerequisites and schedule completion of the capstone MGMT 455 course before graduation. Please note: MGMT 455 is offered in the winter and spring terms of 2009. Those students interested in new venture creation to qualify for external business plan competitions should take MGMT 455 in the winter term.
