The Right Fit?
So now that we’ve told you who and what we are, let us tell you what we are looking for in our applicants. Almost every MBA program wants students with outstanding academic and professional credentials, good communication skills, and self-motivation. That goes without saying. But we go beyond that. Because our program is intentionally small, we carefully craft our incoming class one by one. We are different. We’re looking for passion and commitment when it comes to entrepreneurship, securities analysis, sports business, or sustainable business practices, or some combination thereof. We want to see evidence of such interests. Mere lip service won’t do.
Attitude is Everything
We are Oregon. It’s all about an active, balanced life style, not the usual rat race. It’s about tolerance of differences. About being enlightened in every sense of the word — environmentally, culturally, socially. The Oregon MBA reflects all of this.
We want students who flourish in this kind of personal and collaborative atmosphere. Our small size puts a premium on participation. There are no backs to hide behind — or to stab, because we believe in collegiality and cooperation. Do you like to learn experientially? Are you willing to work with others from different backgrounds? Do you believe in a healthy balance of work and play? Can you tolerate ambiguity and uncertainty? If you can answer ‘yes’ to all these questions, ours may be just the program for you, and you may be just the person we would like to see as part of our small, close-knit class.
