Securities Analysis Center - Current Students

The Securities Analysis Center coursework emphasizes analytical rigor in both accounting and finance, to develop a strong and integrated skill set for the variety of financial professions. Quantitative techniques are combined with theory, case analysis, and discussion to develop a complete view from both the "top down" and "bottom up" perspectives.

The Securities Analysis Center curriculum incorporates several unique approaches:

  • A strong and integrated emphasis on both accounting and finance users of financial data are at an advantage when fully understanding how the information is produced.
  • An orientation towards global financial markets, especially the Pacific Rim economies standards and differences in cross-border financial analysis are stressed.
  • Collaborative research and analysis using state-of-the-art data, software, and techniques our portfolio management suite is a dedicated area providing an integrated platform for all financial data and analysis.
  • A flexible curriculum that accommodates the range of industries and career paths, including corporate finance, asset management, investment banking, accounting, risk management, and alternative investing.

Experiential Learning

The Lundquist College of Business' emphasis on applied learning is the key advantage thatbrings all of the coursework to life. Through their direct experience and collaboration with industry, students become grounded in the skills and techniques needed to engage their careers from the outset.

The opportunities available for experiential learning take many forms:

  • Collaboration with our industry partners to solve current business issues via applied projects.

  • An Applied Portfolio Management series taught by our Managing Director, emphasizing techniques and best practices used in the investment profession.

  • Annual trips to the Far East, New York City, San Francisco, and other destinations, to meet with financial professionals and learn of their operations.
  • Participation in various business societies and clubs, including Beta Alpha Psi.
