Securities Analysis Center - Prospective Students

Our Mission

The Securities Analysis Center exists to provide the finest education for the professions related to financial management and analysis.  Our program resides on the leading edge of both accounting and finance, emphasizing a blend of academic rigor and applied learning. We believe that applied learning through close collaboration with industry is essential to understanding the process of effective decision making within an environment of business uncertainty. This complements the scholarly work of our faculty and our commitment to promoting excellence in research, and develops graduates more deeply prepared for careers as financial professionals and business leaders.

The Scope

Our graduates go on to careers in corporate finance, asset management, investment banking, accounting, risk management, and alternative investing. Our goal is for each to bring the skills and knowledge needed to immediately begin adding value to their chosen profession. The program emphasizes the global nature of today's financial decisionmaking, including specialized courses devoted to International Accounting, Finance, and Investing.

The SAC is also well integrated with the CFA Society of Portland, and many of our students pursue the CFA designation.  Student membership into the Portland CFA chapter, invitations to regular CFA events, access to study materials, and eligibility for a CFA society scholarship are some of the ongoing benefits.  A CFA Charterholder resides within the SAC faculty and the SAC sponsors several students as CFA candidates each year.
