About the Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship

The entrepreneurial spirit is at the very heart of business success. Entrepreneurs possess the vision to see things differently and uncover new ideas, the courage to take risks and defend those ideas, and the drive to see them through. Entrepreneurship catapults businesses to higher strategic levels--from mere conformity to the extraordinary.

The University of Oregon’s Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship (LCE) at the Lundquist College of Business educates, inspires and empowers future entrepreneurs. Since its inception, LCE has earned a stellar reputation for providing one of the finest entrepreneurial education experiences in the country. Students, alumni, national and international media and traditional ranking organizations all validate LCE’s position as a leader in entrepreneurial education.

The very characteristics of entrepreneurship--innovation, initiative, accountability, dedication--define the type of education LCE offers. LCE acts as an entrepreneurial incubator for its students. The center provides a solid foundation of business theory and principle through classroom learning, coupled with extraordinary experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for the realities of the entrepreneurial world. LCE helps students develop the skills necessary to identify and capitalize on business opportunities wherever they may be--whether it’s a Fortune 100 company, a family-owned business, a startup, or a nonprofit.

LCE has become a portal of entrepreneurial energy fueling the state and regional economy, acting as a valuable pipeline channeling highly educated, inspired, and motivated entrepreneurs into the business world.

History and Mission

LCE was founded in 1989 through an endowment from Charles H. Lundquist. The center provides students with learning and experiential opportunities that enable them to succeed as innovative, responsible, and effective business leaders. It is committed, in both concept and action to adding value by creating, sharing, and promoting business knowledge through cooperation and collaboration among students, faculty, and the greater business community. To this end, LCE has continued to build on its traditional base of activity, expanding efforts that lead to greater cooperation and support for entrepreneurial activities through partnerships across the Oregon University System. Through these efforts, the center strives for a leadership position in economic and knowledge development activities within the Northwest region.
